Who’s the fairest dove of them all?
This mourning dove is admiring his fine self in the mirror we’ve put in his enclosure. Currently receiving treatment for frostbitten feet, the dove is residing in a small enclosure where he is easily handled for medications and treatment.
However, as you may well know, mourning doves are flock animals, meaning where you find one dove, you usually find another… or a whole bunch. These communal birds thrive with company, but since we can’t provide extra mourning doves to him while he recovers, we provide a mirror, giving him the opportunity to see “another” dove in its reflection, and perhaps find some peace and comfort.
