Finding Middlebury
November 4, 2021
Middlebury, one of the Red-tailed Hawks in our Winter Raptor Project, has reestablished connection since he last transmitted data in April! His latest position shows that he is in Canada over 600 miles away from where he was originally encountered in Middlebury, Vermont.
Over the summer he appeared to establish a territory near the Canadian Municipality of Baie-James. The fact that he recently sent movement data might mean that he is on his way south for the winter and could end up in Vermont again. Perhaps he will cross paths again with Goodrich, our first GPS tagged bird, who has been a year round resident in Addison County.
That’s so very cool! Is there a website to watch him? Thank you for doing this!
We will continue to post blog and facebook updates on all of the birds in our study. Unfortunately we have not yet figured out a way for people to follow live updates.
